About Botanical Boys

Connecting People to Nature Our journey began in 2009 when moving house and renovating our Japanese and Italian water garden in London. We soon got noticed and were asked to open our garden to the public for the National Garden Scheme raising funds for good causes. We have since been featured on the BBC Great British Garden Revival, The Sunday Times, Abigal Will's The New London Garden book amongst other publications and won a gold medal at Chelsea Flower Show. Inspired of what was achieved with our garden we decided to focus our energy building terrariums at home. Visitors and friends quickly recognised the terrariums as a way to capture a slice of nature to bring indoors and asked us if we could teach them. Our first ever terrarium class started around our dining table with 3 friends and word quickly got round. Not too long after we opened up a plant and workshop store in Coal Drops Yard. South African (Ben) and his founding business partner (Darren) were inspired on their travels across Africa developing a love for traditional hand crafted objects. We have built a strong supply network of family and friends whom help us source treasures for our stores, interior designers and the film industry.

Wine. Plants. New faces. What could possibly grow from that? 🍷🌵 Join us for a fun, relaxed singles night where great wine, a little creativity, and plenty of mingling come together. Inspired by the South African heritage farm Blaauwklippen, this experience blends wine tasting, succulent planting and meeting new people in one beautifully social evening. You’ll be welcomed with a glass of Prosecco to break the ice before tasting your way through three wines - a crisp Chenin Blanc, a classic Cabernet Sauvignon and a bold Malbec. And because this is a singles night, you won’t be staying in one seat for long. After each wine, you’ll rotate around the table and meet someone new. With every pour comes a fresh conversation, a new connection, and a chance to see who you click with. PLANT, SIP & MINGLE Between tastings and chats, you’ll also create your own mini succulent planter using a selection of colourful, easy-to-care-for plants. It’s the perfect hands-on moment to relax, laugh and keep the conversation flowing while something lovely grows. By the end of the night, you’ll have tasted three wines, planted your own little garden, and met everyone in the room. Whether you leave with a spark, a few new friends, or simply a great story, it’s a night designed for connections to bloom. Wine is served as 75ml tasting pours for each of the three wines, with additional glasses or bottles available to purchase during the event. Planters may vary slightly depending on availability, but each one is just as charming and easy to take home - the perfect little reminder of a night of wine, plants and possibility. GOOD TO KNOW We provide a paper bag and bubble wrap for your plant pot, but you can bring your own bag & a small towel to wrap & carry home your planter garden if you prefer. Enjoyed more wine after the workshop and continue conversations with connections in our cosy botanical store afterwards. Workshop duration: 1hr 30mins Ticket: £50 + £1 stripe payment fee Ticket split: 12 male / 12 female Closest station: King's Cross St Pancras
